The AWASH model connects water supply and demand to a wealth of sectors, dynamics, and decisions around water, energy, and food. This framework allows for a more productive analysis of trade-offs and interactions among the sectors.
Existing products include a “current situation” simulation of 2010 conditions to use as a baseline for exploring future developments and a representation of U.S. surface water and groundwater resources given optimized allocation across sectors. These are merely a starting point for the possibilities of exploration with AWASH. Our hope is that this tool will enable researchers across the country to push the frontiers of integrated water resource modeling.
